For easy navigation inside of PageStream. Check
http://www.pagestream.org/showdocs.php?id=659 for more information.
Right now Deron is working on the OS X version and bug fixes, but one feature
I would like to see in the built-in PDF export is to embed the chapter
structure in the PDF. Having bookmarks included makes sense as well.
Note: the built-in PDF export is quick and convenient but it lacks some
features. For example:
1. no bitmap fills
2. no line ends (arrows or features)
3. cropped graphics are displayed completely (no cropping)
I generate my PDFs from postscript files which circumvents these issues.
Consequently I'm not sure if the following are still limitations of the
built-in PDF export, but they used to be.
4. rotated graphics are displayed unrotated (no rotation)
5. resized graphics are displayed unscaled (no resizing)
Even with all of that I *do* sometimes use the built-in PDF export. It is
fast, convenient, and creates small PDFs. On Windows I don't have as ready
access to ps2pdf conversion. Which is why I know #2 and #3 are still
problems. Numbers 1 through 3 are a postscript features not available in PDF.
PageStream *could* work around these limitations but it currently does not.

I very much would like embedded fonts too. There's no guarantee that the
receiver of one of my PDF documents have the same fonts installed as I.

I don't recall which 5.0 release included it (the readme should indicate
this), but PageStream will now embed fonts. You actually have three
options. No embedding (like before), only embed fonts not in the core 13
(which are supposed to be included/accesible in every pdf viewer), or
embed all fonts.
There. I went back in time and fixed it just for you (Seriously, it
may be that this feature has not made it to all releases. With several
months inserted between then and now I am still getting back up to speed
with were I was/should be).

That sounds great.
I am running PageStream 5.0.2.10 Pro and as far as I can see the feature
is not present in that version.
Perhaps I should try running the PageStream 5.0.3.4 beta Pro. It's
probably included in that version.
