Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
Did I forget to say thank you!
Deron,
I found the internal postscript option and have started using it! On
the setup menu I selected the `General PPD file, I presume that's the
one I should use!?! I then took the resultant postscript file and then
converted it with GSview using ghostscipt 8.60. The PDF file size for
the June issue of the newsletter went from 1790 KB to 587 KB!!!!!!
Needless to say, WOW!!! From what I see using the `properties' option
in Adobe Reader 8.0, the above path to PDF substitutes some of the
fonts I use in PageStream for the normal PDF fonts and also reduces
the other fonts I use to a subset of the `original(?)'. As for the
newsletter, I do tend to use fonts that are not common to all systems
and that's where I was worried about this newer way of creating the PDFs.
I've converted all of the other issues of the newsletter and the
reduction was not quite spectacular as that one, but at least one-half
to one-third of the PGS internal PDF file size. The only item I will
have to watch out for is the file size of any graphics I put in future
issues, since that seems to be more a controlling issue now that I
found this new route of creating PDFs.
Also, I sent the original PDF (1790K) along with the reduced PDF to
another person to see if they looked the same (fonts, mainly) on his
machine, and they did! Woo Hoo! Success!
To all the rest of you who responded:
Thanks for your suggestions and help!!
