Sorry, I erred here. I actually have Smart Bullets turned off.

Some additional remarks:

I am sending directly to you files generated from my Pagestream setup:

Subscr_sp_prob_Times_eu.pdf
Subscr_sp_prob_Triumv_eu.pdf
pg1_output_embed_eu.ps
pg1_output_noembed_eu.ps
TechReport_eu.txt

These are Pagestream-generated pdf files, with Times as the font, with
Triumvirate as the font.

At my end, when viewed with Apdf neither of the pdf files show a spacing
problem. Likewise with the ps files which were created with/without the
fonts embedded. (How do I embed fonts, you ask? That is done with custom
ppd files. If the fonts are not listed, pagestream outputs the fonts into
the ps files).

You can compare my techreport and see if any version information is
different from yours.

Here's another thing to try/compare: Pagestream Amiga is using special intellifonts for Triumvirate and Times, then it dynamically generates the
#?.pfb fonts on the fly for printing that correspond to the intellifonts.
I'm sure it must use those .pfb fonts for the pdf files also. Perhaps
those fonts have become corrupt? You might try deleting #?.pfb files
those so that it regenerates them at the next printing task.

Since you created the pdf files without embedding the fonts (in this
version pagestream doesn't embed fonts), another possibility is that
your viewer fonts are at fault. However, I also think you will NOT
find the trouble there either, because your pdf file shows the same
spacing problem at my end, as it also does when viewed with Post2.0
or ghostscript, whereas my pdf file generated from your PGS doc do NOT
exhibit the spacing problem.

Therefore I think the fault lies in your Pagestream settings and
configuration.
