I have done all that but the only version I can find to download for
Mac OS 9 is PGS 4.0.9 which is the one I already have.

If I go to the purchase area and look for PGS 5 (which is what Deron
implied I should upgrade to) I can only find versions for Mac OS X
which is not what I want.

Any further guidance please?

With many thanks,

Well, I did say I might be missing something :(

I myself not having access to the OS 9 versions I can't say for sure which is
the most current version. The OS X version is the intended replacement but I
see no guarantee on a delivery date so that may not suit your needs.
Depending on your situation and desires there *are* other possibilities but
they may not suit you at all.

For example, I own the Windows version of PgS and have Parallels. Consequently
I can (and have) installed PgS on my Mac via Parallels. This is not what I
would consider ideal, but Parallels makes it pretty transparent. Another
option would be to install Linux with Parallels and use a linux version of
PgS but that is not as transparent. It is my understanding that you can
substitute Fusion (by VMWare) for Parallels though I have no experience with
it.

If you do not own a version of PgS for Windows or Linux; or do not own
Parallels; or do not have an Intel based Mac; or simply have no desire to use
Parallels then this would obviously not be a viable solution for you.

You should have access to 4.1 as well. Even if you want to use 4.0, you
should be able to copy the 4.1 British.language module to 4.0 (assuming
that it is in the archive).

Otherwise, you can do as I suggested and simply use the American
language module with the British spelling dictionary.
