curve and warp text

Been a while since I've been here; sorry if you have already addressed
this. Used to have PS Amiga with Text Effects. "Upgraded" to PS
5.0.2.4- no more text effects. Do you really have to have Pro to use
this extension?

Alternatively, I tried to curve or warp text. The scripts do nothing.
I could do that on the Amiga too. Any ideas about those scripts, and
why they do not work?

So I tried installing the 5.0.4.3 beta. PS crashes before it even starts.

I'd like to not have to use Word to do the curve text thing. Any
suggestions? My thanks.

I don't remember the version number where this happened, but the offerings
were changed. TextFX used to be sold separately (along with a few other
extensions, including the additional borders) but they are now bundled with
the Pro version.

IIRC they depend on TextFX.

It *is* beta and several things were broken. I use 5.0.3.4 -- while it has a
couple of problems it adds enough functionality that I need relative to the
last stable version that it is worth it for me. And for me 5.0.3.4 (linux) is
quite stable.

Get the Pro version?

Use an Amiga emulator to use the old Amiga version for which you have Text
Effects?

Much better than any PageStream version was the old Amiga
ArtExpression program. If it's not available in any current OS
version., try dragging out Amiga OS 3.1, loading Art Expression
and using its Text-on-a-Path and Text-in-a-Shape tools to
create the desired effect as an IFF-ILBM graphic file. This
program does a much better job than the old TextFX routines.
