Greetings All,

I inquired about download problems from Grasshopper a few days ago, but no reply
so I'll try again.

Instead of bothering Deron with the matters below, it would simplify things much
if someone would verify that they have no trouble downloading from Grasshopper.
I suspect that is the case and that I should be taking my problems elsewhere,
but it seems to make sense to check here first.

I've been using both AWeb 3.5.0.0 and iBrowse 2.4 for the downloads, and the
results are essentially the same -- failure.

For example: I tried to download both

PageStream Fonts v0.2 at 4,804,199 bytes
and
PageStream 4.1.5.6Pro at 11,804,776 bytes

and in each case at some point OS4.0 (Final + July 2007 update) complained about
not receiving the complete files. The complaints were of the vintage:

Re PageStream Fonts v0.2 the message was
Expected 4804199
Received 3293184

Re PageStream 4.1.5.6Pro the message was
Expected 11804776
Received 2015232

So I did a RESET and tried again. Same result! Since after registering at
Grasshopper and since the downloads began, I conclude that I'm entitled to
download the items above. I have purchased both Amiga 4.1.5.6 and 5.0.3.3 Pro
in the distant past, and in previous encounters had no problems in downloading
5.0.3.3 Pro.

I attempted the downloads with iBrowse 2.4 and received the same sort of failure
messages, but this time the complaints were from iBrowse.

The above was about a week ago. Tonight I tried again and with both AWeb and
iBrowse. Same result -- incomplete downloads. This time I tried to get

Amgia 4.1.8.3 Pro which weighs about 13+ MB

No deal. AWeb downloaded just over 3 MB, then quit. iBrowse faired a little
better but shortly after 4.5 MB had been received, it too quit. While all this
was going on, iBrowse was able to download a small PDF file - less than one MB.
The directory into which the downloads were directed has about 104 MB of free
space.

However, iBrowse did not delete what it had downloaded and upon attempting to
open the .lha file with Unarc the following message appeared:

Error while unpacking
RAM Disk:Pgs4183/CSets/CP852.txt

I recall some problems with the directory 'CSets' and some Windows files therein
in the past, but that had to do with the operation of PageStream.

Upon assurance that there is nothing wrong with the various PageStream archives,
I'll take this problem elsewhere. Thanks and

Cheers Don (Green Dragon)

I have absolutely no problems downloading from pagestream.org.

I tried downloading the fonts files and the Amiga 4.1.5.6 non-Pro
version, since I am not entitled to the Pro version. Both downloaded
just fine.

I'm using Windows XP Pro and Firefox.

If the files are listed on your download page, you should be able to
download them.

I've downloaded Fonts v0.2 and it's complete! I could extract all!

Using Windows XP and Firefox 3.0 Beta 4.

I just tried this one, using IBrowse. No problems at all.

Downloaded file size, according to DOpus, is 4804199.

So it must be something on your system, I'm afraid :(

Hi Don,

Yes, you are entitled to download those files that you mentioned. The
site would not be so cruel as to let you start downloading and _then_
decide you can't

While most folks can and do download just fine from our site, there are
a couple folks who have to download from work, library or friends. I
have tried several times to make changes to the download to improve that
for them but still no improvements. I believe that the error is some
kind of timeout, and perhaps a slower speed connection can account for
your troubles? I don't think this is a browser issue.

As far as the integrity of the files online, the length and MD5 checksum
listed for the files is _exactly_ what is on the server. When I upload
the files, I have to enter in the MD5 of the file on my computer and
only when the MD5 of the file online matches that MD5 that I enter does
it allow the file to be downloaded. A little check I put it that at
least verifies that the file online is the file on my computer. That
doesn't guarantee that the file on my computer is good, but... If your
file length or MD5 does not match the what the site says, then you
definitely do not have the complete and correct file.

If you have any time details to add or someone else has an suggestions I
would love to hear.
