Re: [PageStreamSupport] Download failures

Hi Theo,

Thank you for the information below. So far the respondents who claim successful
downloads have been with Windows machines! Is that telling me something?

Correction! A later message noted that an Amiga system was used with success.
Also, iBrowse was used without error, so that takes us to OS4.0 or to my ISP.
Hmmmm!

Neither windows nor amiga, but when I downloaded the latest OS X beta
earlier it dl'd without error using linux (which is normal, that is my
workstation and where I normally work from) but when I tried to open
it OS X complained that the archive was corrupt. So I checked the MD5
and sure enough it didn't match.

I downloaded it a few minutes ago via OS X (from work instead of home)
and it came in just fine. It may be that there are some intermittent
issues for now. If so it could be really hard to pin down the cause,
but I'd expect the longer the download takes the more likely it is for
an issue to come up.

And of course it could be something else entirely, what do I know

Now I feel I have been remiss in not responding to this thread.

I just took a look, and found a couple of large downloads I have made via
OS4 and IBrowse.

drg.zip 32004365 ----rwed 23-Nov-07 21:57:22
This has to be with the July update, obviously. I can't tell for sure I got
it intact, because Unarc says the main file is about 200 megabytes larger
than my free space (before I knew that, I tried to unpack it and ended up
having to reboot), but three smaller files that came with unpacked fine.

gus_patches.lha 31177308 ----rwed 22-Jan-08 17:41:43
I'm not sure what this is for--a bunch of instrumental patches--oh, I just
checked ".pat" with Find and they're all Timidity plugins for TuneNet--and
it dearchives without a whimper.

OWB itself is a recent download, 12,423,991B as packed, and I have a number
over 10M that worked fine.

I hope you get your problem worked out. I guess you know that dial-up is
one of Beelzebub's cruelist inventions.
