I probably hadn't tried to do anything with PageStream5 beta for like unto a
year. Certain problems, such as the overlapping tool bars--the horizontal
one covering the object-select arrow in the vertical one, for one thing,
led me to PageStream4, which has treated me very nicely for the trivial
things I wanted to do with it.
At your suggestion, I tried 5 beta a little while ago. It comes up with a
yellow screen-top alert warning me that SoftLogik.font has a problem with
glyph #126 (I don't remember whether I used to get that last spring or not)
and I should click the mouse.
When the little window came on, I chose "Open" and went for the file I had
created and saved in PageStream4/Documents. Maybe PageStream4 files are
not supposed to work in PageStream5? In any event, the Grim Reaper
visited, and shortly thereafter I had to push the reset button on the
tower.
I tried again, and this time got the GR as soon as I clicked for the yellow
alert, again requiring a machine reset. I tried twice more, intending to
try "New" instead of opening the troublesome PageStream4 file, and failed
to get any further, but I was quick enough to successfully warm reboot both
times. I suppose I should try reinstalling it--I've got the archive on a
Zip disk.
Meanwhile, I'm about to try Don Ferguson's (rather complicated-sounding)
suggestion with PageStream4.
Thanks for your suggestion. I'll continue to experiment and report back.
