There's a freeware utility on Aminet which works very well (better
than Xtrace in some cases). It's a CLI utility, which means it
doesn't have any GUI, but it is reliable. I can't remember the
name, but we were discussing it about six months ago on this forum,
so do a search through the messages. Actually, I just remembered
the name....it's "Autotrace". Do an Aminet search for it.
I've converted a number of bitmap images to Adobe Illustrator vector
format with it. It does a great job of getting rid of "jaggies" and
you can even specify a colour to make transparent (for transparent
backgrounds).
