Hello David, Theo, and All,
In following this thread, there is a point that had puzzled me. Well, it did
until Tim explained the device of placing the single page as the Master Page.
See below!

I think David was the first one to note the "600 page" involvement, and, in
following Theo's explanation it was not clear to me how to create such a 600
page document, each page of which was idenitical to the next, save for the
exception of a single text frame which would have been placed on the
controlling master page and which would contain the "page numbering" item.
Tim's explanation finally straightened me out. Many thanks.
Then I wondered "How does one transfer a complicated page so that it becomes a
Master Page?" To me amazement, the answer seems to be: Use "Object -> Move to
page..." and then set
Chapter = Default Master Page
Side = Right (or Left or Center)
in the "Move to Page" dialogue window.
If the page in question is one from a many-pages document, it would be better to
create first a "New MasterPage" with just the relevant 'old' master page
elements on it, and then use "Object -> Move to page..." to copy the page onto
"New MasterPage". Otherwise your original document will inherit a master page
nightmare.
However, it did occur to me that creating several copies of a single page (not
printing several copies) would occasionally be useful. 600? Maybe not, but two
or three might easily arise. The only device I could think of for doin this was
activate the objects on the page and then:
Object -> Transform
and within the 'Transform' dialogue window set:
Copies = 99 (for starters)
Increment page = 1
Offset: Horz = 0p Vert = op (p=pica)
It worked, but slower than I anticipated. Initially I thought PageStream 4.1.5.6
had
died.
I did not try a page with 27 objects on it!
Okay, now I'm waiting to learn the simple way to duplicate the page!
Cheers Don (Green Dragon)

Well, it was no 600 page document, but one (two: left and right) page
with a pagenumber (LM or RM which stands for Left and Right Masterpage)
on it.
The trick was to increase the pagenumber leaving other items on that
page intact. Christoph asked how to automate a number increase, without
making a 600 page document by hand.
My idea was to use the masterpage on which I put everything which I
wanted to be printed, include the pagenumber.
Now if you tell PGS to print a range from 2001 to, let say, 2600, then
with every page PGS itself increases the pagenumber with one from 2001
to 2600.
(OK, Christoph told me that the range should be 2000 to 2600...)

Which is one way.
1) In the status bar you can click on the pagenumber. You can insert a
number, but you can also select with the mini menu to go to the masterpage.
There you have the option to go to the left, right, center page. Now you
can insert anything you want, which you will see 'shining through' on
any 'normal' page, like pagenumber (LM, RM), an object, a chaptername.
2) Open the Document Palette in which it is showed at least: name of the
document and the masterpage. Doubleclick on masterpage and you are on
the.. masterpage.
The rest of the e-mail I didn't get (it's early ). Later today I
will read this again.

Hello Theo,
Hello all,
I just send you this e-mail to confirm that as per my screen grabs
Theo's method works fine. Theo's approach is simple and efficiant
Thanks very much.
Here they are the screen grab's:

I saw something peculiar in your screen grabs: the page palette is
filled with pages...
So I started to implement your document setup: great that works also.
Nice adding idea, Christoph!
