how do I type text?

So I'm trying to use this for the first time and I can't even get past
figuring out how to type text. Yeah, I know, I really don't know how to
use this program. I tried clicking on the tool box on the "A" and tried
typing. Nothing.

Also, for the demo version am I allowed to save? The program won't let
me save.

And how long do I get to use the demo version for?

In a page layout program such as PageStream you must first designate where the
text will be. Usually you must also specify the size of the area (height and
width) for the text. This is known as a text frame. PageStream allows
frameless text where you simply specify a position.

To create a frameless text object select the "A" and click on the page. Where
you click will be the location of the first character typed.

You probably want a text frame which is drawn with the text frame tool.

That's a good indication the demo does not allow saving. I checked the
download page for demos and it does not say what the limitations are which is
regrettable.

I don't believe there is a time limit. If I recall correctly you cannot print
or save using the demo.
