Over the past month, several users have complained about
this same
thing. I was not able to help a z22 user, but for my Treo
700p and
another's 650, playing with the timing helped.

In particular, try hitting sync on the Palm, then waiting a
couple of
seconds, then running pilot-xfer. For gnome-pilot, pause
the daemon
(right-click menu on the applet), then attach the device,
then hit sync
on the Palm, then after a couple of seconds,
"continue" the daemon (also
right-click menu on the applet) and it should sync. If you
see gpilotd
taking up 100% of CPU, as with the strace log posted here,
you probably
attached the device without pausing the daemon; you'll need
to killall
gpilotd to get it to work again.

Also, this is with libusb. I was never able to get visor to
work at all
when I upgraded from a 600 to a 700p. And to get libusb to
work on
Debian etch, I not only had to blacklist visor, but had to
remove it
from the /lib/modules tree!

I haven't yet had time to get the CVS pilot-link and test
further.

HTH, YMMV...

Adam,

I 'might' be that Z22 user

I'll see if I can follow your 'timing' exercises. At this
point I'm
willing to become a contortionist; hold me left ear while
synching, what
have you.

I'll let you know what I find.
