Hi all,
I've made extensive changes to the election interface based
on your
feedback, would you please test it by voting for your
favorite color and
your favorite noble gases at
http://pear.php.net/ele
ction/
I just committed these changes, so if you get a 404, wait
about an hour
and the sync will make the new files available.
One important change is it should now send out an email with
your vote
information. Please confirm that this works for you. These
elections
will only last for 3 days, so please vote early, and vote
often! ;)
Thanks,
Greg

Is is intention that the links all go to the same address,
http://pear.php.net?
When using my "saved number", I get:
> Vote in a PEAR Election
> No votes found, incorrect salt?
but at the page says that I have voted.
Also, election.php should have a no-cache setting.
The noble gases also have all the same more info link
destination.
And I get the same "incorrect salt" message for
the gases.

It seems, not that I tried some minutes later, it works.
Which is strange.
And I don't have received any mails yet. Do you send them
straight out,
without relaying it by a mailserver? If yes, this might be
the cause
since I use greylisting and mails of unknown servers need to
be sent twice.

The "Have you voted?" still "no" even I
have voted it. Yes when I have
voted it goes to what I have voted, but when I click back I
got the
election form again. Also seems no email sent same as Chris
told
before.
BTW, I just wondering what this stuff for?

These elections

vote registered, mail sent, vote retrieved: all working.
The only thing I'd change is the mail report: instead
of a note with the numbers of the chosen options, I'd
rather send the actual option texts, not the numbers alone,
or at least a legend.
I received this email:
===============================================
Your vote for the election: choose your favorite noble gases
has been registered. You voted for:
1
2
3
5
6
===============================================
while I think something like this would be more informative:
===============================================
[x] helium
[x] neon
[x] argon
[ ] krypton
[x] xenon
[x] radon
[ ] ununoctium
===============================================
what do you think?

Great work, everything works fine for me! Got the email in
an instant too.
One suggestion would be to add a 'back' link to the info.php
pages.
Currently, there is no way to come back to the election page
once I've
gone to view the details/results of a particular election
except using
the browser's back button.
Cheers,
- Anant

Confirmed, it must point to http://pear.ph
p.net/election/index.php instead.

Yes. As this is a sample election, I had no intention of
spending a lot
of time creating custom links for each color and noble gas
. In
normal circumstances, each of these would point to a page
describing the
vote choice in detail.

I prefer to allow the browser cache to back up so you can
navigate back
and forth to change small mistakes.

I'll check this one out, that shouldn't be happening.

It will be used for many large-scale issues to determine
whether we have
a quorum on making major changes. In other words, it will
*only* be
used for things like:
choosing a system of governing PEAR
PEAR "president" election
PEAR QA group election
deciding what points are most important for the mission
statement
choosing a bug tracker or other major website changes
it will *not* be used for:
approving packages
approving RFCs
other daily business
