Hello,
Today, the PEAR website was significantly enhanced. Most of
the
enhancements are in the bug tracker. Here's a short list of
the new
features:
- all users submitting bugs get a pear.php.net account if
they don't
already have one, no more captchas needed for bug reports
once you have
one and are logged in
- patch tracking is enabled for bugs with revision tracking
per-patch.
Now, patch files can be uploaded, and downloaded as
necessary
- package.xml can be auto-generated based on a roadmap,
including a
brand new package.xml for a new package releasing version
0.1.0
- email addresses will no longer be displayed, mangled or
not, and
instead the bug tracker will link to the user page for a bug
user, which
will allow others to email you without having any access to
your email
address, so spam will be cut back significantly. This does
not affect
existing bugs, although I plan to go through the database
and update it
on a bug-by-bug basis for those who opened/commented on bugs
with
existing PEAR accounts.
Although this is all good news, I am also writing because
these are all
new features that significantly affect the way things work.
If you have
ANY problems, please open a bug. If you have problems
opening a bug,
write a message to the pear-webmaster list
(pear-webmaster lists.php.net) or Reply to this message
(not Reply-All
please). I have done a lot of testing but do acknowledge
that humanity
= makes mistakes.
I hope these features will make both fixing and reporting
bugs as well
as implementing new features far easier for the PEAR
community at large,
but as always, they are open for tweaking and now that we
have a patch
tracker, patches are welcome
Thanks,
Greg
