Hi everyone,
Greg Beaver has encouraged me to return from my self-imposed
expatriation to run for election as a PEAR Group member. I
am only
too happy to accept his invitation.
Here's a short summary of projects I was the original lead
on, or
still maintain as lead:
DB_Table
: <http://pear.php.net/
DB_Table>
: now led by Mark Wiesemann and David Morse
Text_Wiki
: <http://pear.php.net
/Text_Wiki>
: now led by Justin Patrin
Savant template system
: <http://phpsavant.com>
Solar PHP5 Framework
: <http://solarphp.com>
I am also one of the founding contributors to the Zend
framework
(although I no longer contribute code, only critique .
I believe that the sources of PEAR greatness have less to do
with the
code in the repository, and more to do with PEAR standards
and
techniques:
* the coding, naming, and structural standards
* the packager/installer
* the channel system
These are things that can translate across all PHP projects,
and I
think PEAR is in an excellent position to popularize them
throughout
the PHP programming culture.
If you want an honest and fair "voice from the
outside" to help guide
PEAR Group decisions along those lines, vote for
"pmjones".
