Hi all,

I've added my name to the list of candidates for president.
We need
more people to take the plunge.

The president of PEAR is responsible for approving/vetoing
PEAR Group
decisions, but is primarily responsible for being an
ambassador of PEAR
to the outside world. As president, it would be your
responsibility to
talk to members of the PHP group and make sure things are
smooth with
integrating PEAR and PHP internals. As well, you would be
responsible
for "press releases" of important changes. You
would be responsible for
talking to other projects similar to PEAR like Zend
Framework, Cake,
Symfony, [paste your favorite PHP thing here] and maybe even
to similar
structures like Fedora project, CPAN, Rails, you name it.
Why talk to
other projects? Perhaps there are ways we can work
together, perhaps
new ideas can filter into PEAR, you name it. You will be
the
"spriritual leader of PEAR" who helps to guide the
"feeling" of working
in PEAR, what kind of developers PEAR should attract, what
kind of
software is desired, etc. You will also work closely with
the PEAR
group to help decide things like this.

If this sounds interesting, reply to this message and I'll
add you to
the list of candidates. Voting starts in 12 days, and then
the election
commences.

Thanks,
Greg

Don't add me as a president as I really want to be a board
member,
however, I gotta say that I am glad that you have decided to
run for
president ... finally

Good choice!
