Hmmm.  bin_dir is pointing to a PHP4 installation.  I don't
understand 
why this would be, though, when I told it to do a local
install in a 
PHP5 directory...

That probably means your Windows PATH setting results in the
"php" command
being run is your php4 command.  Or, at least it was when
you ran that
installation of pear.

You should run "pear config-set (varname)"
commands to update your pear
installation to point where you want things, especially if
it's not using
the PHP installation you want.

Did this provide any insight on where the bat files are?
