LiveUser externalValues?

Hi,

I just wonder what is the use of
LiveUser::setExternalValues() and
LiveUser::externalValuesMatch() ?

I can not understand from the doc comments.

IIRC it was a way to check that certain values remain
unchanged from one 
request to another .. like user agent etc.

hm I see that it is used with freeze/unfreeze - but I don't
understand
what external values are.. where do they come from?

I've just started working on a quick symfony port...
