Hi,

is there some sort of network scanner in PEAR?

i did not found one ...

i need a lib scanning (local) network hosts listening on a
specific port

Does it have to be in PHP? If not, get nmap (0).

yes

i used to write a modbus implementation, and it should
auto-discover modbus
capable devices

best without any external requirements

I pulled a quick nmap wrapper for PEAR2...

You can find it here:

It's very very rudimentary but works fine. Look at
examples/nmap file,
works just like nmap
