Very odd - thanks for pointing this out. The internals of Pebble have changed quite a bit between M1 and M2, but I'll keep an eye out for this issue. FWIW, I did the same thing yesterday (retrospectively tagging some entries) so perhaps this should be made into a feature for
2.1.
Cheers

Hi,
I have encountered something today that's a bit strange with Pebble 2.0.0 M1 (Fedora Core 3/JDK
1.5.0_02/Tomcat 5.0.30, etc.):
I wanted to do some retroactive tagging of my earlier blogs. So I did a search on "cygwin," which brought back 1 pages of entries. I then proceeded to open every one of them in a new tab in Firefox (middle
mouse button click.)
Observation: Only the first couple of entries were fully loaded immediately. The other 15 or so entries remained in the loading state for more than 10 seconds. And then they almost all completed loading at
about the same instant.
I went to the first entry before the other pages were loaded and started to edit it, adding a couple of tags ("cygwin" and "subversion.") When I clicked on the publish button, I received a generic error.
I than did another search for "cygwin" and the same number of hits were returned. When I clicked on the first one (the one I just edited) I got an not such page error. I checked the URL and it was
"http://www.weiqigao.com/blog/cygwin subversion," which of course is wrong.
I went back to the file system and did a grep -l "Subversion Comes To Cygwin" */*/*/*.xml
and found the entry to be 2004/07/12/1089645287000.xml.
The reason for the wrong URL is because my newly added tags were saved not in the "tags" element, but in the "originalPermalink" element.
There is nothing in the pebble.log. There are no exceptions logged in the Tomcat log (catalina.log) around the time of the error. There were only some warnings logged. I have attached the relevent portion of it.
I stopped Tomcat, hand edited the entry, and restarted Tomcat. And that fixed the problem.
I suspect the cause of the problem is threading related, but I haven't tried to track it down yet.

Thanks.
Putting my developer hat on, I can see what I described
yesterday is
(sort of) consistent with the user typing the tags into the
wrong text
field. After all, the tags box and the original permalink
box are only
an inch apart.
However, as a user, I don't think that's what happened. I
have been
using tags for quite some time and have never typed my tags
into the
original permalink box.
Adding a retroactive tagging feature would be cool.

Try typing the first letter of the tags into the original permalink field and see if your browser remembers it.
