Hi Simon,

Pebble just keeps getting better. I have been using RC-1 since the day it came out. I have it deployed in multi-blog, multi-user mode on a Mac G5 Quad at home and have been quite pleased with the stability, the simplicity, and the look.

Our IT lead deployed it in our department at the university. We are running Tomcat 5.5.17. Pebble 2.0.0RC1. Linux box. I don't know any further specifics on the machine (I am a Mac user and the fact that I have had no trouble at home and this has happened at work on a Linux box just reinforces my prejudice in favor of Mac). The blog worked beautifully for a few days. Then two things happened:

1) I noticed we were getting multiple instances of "Read More" when a user used the excerpt text box and edited a previously published entry. Some instances of 'Read More' were being appended to the text in the excerpt text box. Even when I deleted these extra 'Read Mores' and then re-published the entry I still ended up with two instances of Read More (presumably one was generated automatically upon publishing and was added to the existing one). I have never seen this behavior on my home instance of pebble.

2) More importantly, when I removed the # (which I assumed was being used to comment out the listener) at the beginning of the

net.sourceforge.pebble.event.comment.EmailAuthorNotificationListener

and then hit 'Save Plugins' I got the message that "there was an error with your request" or something to that effect. When I tried going back in the blog was basically gone. No matter what I did I got that error message. At one point in this process I was able to 'login' but the css basically was not loading though some radio buttons showed up with non-western characters on them. I could not follow any links that did show up on the page. Finally, the blog disappeared entirely. By the time that happened it is possible the IT lead had also tried finding a solution. He told me the blog basically disintegrated and disappeared from the web even though as far as he can tell the files are still present.

I plan to ask him to simply redeploy the Pebble.war but I wanted to check into whether what I saw was a known problem, e.g. the disintegration was related to my activating that listener and I should steer clear, or if it was coincidence.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

There are no known issues with the e-mail listener (I use it all the time), so I don't think that's the cause of the problem(s). Are you able to get a copy of the logs?

Thanks
Simon
