Upgrading Pebble

I have some blogs in pebble 1.9 I'd like to upgrade to
2.0.0-RC2 but I
can't seem to get them to work.  

First, I tried following the instructions at
http:/
/pebble.sourceforge.net/upgrading1x.html but the entries
in the
existing blog.properties caused class not found problems.  I
deleted
most of the entries in the properties file but then pebble
would not
load but provided no stack traces or log entries.  

New plan, I created a new blog and then copied the blog data
directories
(2006, 2005, etc.), logged on to pebble and reindexed. 
About half of
the enteries didn't index.  The basic errors are null
pointers at:
net.sourceforge.pebble.web.action.ViewDayAction.filter(ViewD
ayAction.java:108)
net.sourceforge.pebble.web.action.ViewMonthAction.filter(Vie
wMonthAction.java:107)

Is there a better resource for upgrading?  I really wasn't
looking for
this much work, I just wanted to pick up a couple features
not available
in 1.9.

I did figure out one problem.  Some of the blog entries were
not found
due to the new storage by GMT.  The old entries were stored
by their
local date.  This causes problems for showing months and
days and I
would imagine category.
