Simon,

Do you have any plans to turn Pebble into a Maven project?
I've been
recently working on projects that use maven, and I must say
I'm quite
impressed. I know there was an email a couple of weeks ago
from someone
that was updating the eclipse project files because they
were out of
date. Well, if Pebble was a maven project, there would be no
need to do
this, as you can generate them (and the IDEA project files,
for that
matter) using maven.

Also, you wouldn't have to store the library jar files in
subversion, as
maven would be able to automatically get them when
building.

I would probably make some time to convert the project to
maven, if
you're interested.

Regards,
Guillermo

I thought about it briefly a while back but since the
project is
small, I'm not sure there's much benefit in doing this.
Thanks very
much for the offer though!

Cheers
Simon

Hi Guillermo,

Since you are offering Maven assistance, I was wondering if
you might
be willing to help me set up a new open source project I am
thinking
of launching with Maven (ChoiceCount.org).

In this case, the project has the advantage of not yet
having any
source dependencies to worry about (mainly because it is too
new to
even have any source code to worry about!), so the set-up
should
probably be as simple as possible. If successful, this
could serve as
a sort of Maven template project.

While I'm on the subject, I could use a few other volunteers
as well.
Here's a chance to tackle Spring Security (formerly known as
Acegi),
along with WebFlow 2, and all the latest and greatest Spring
and
related toys. Initially it's a simple little project idea
which has a
sideline goal of acting as a sort of proof of concept for
some of the
newer technologies, but if successful, it could also serve a
useful
cross-check polling function in this year's U.S.election.

Let me know if interested.

Thanks

David McLure

p.s. I assume you are referring to Maven 2 - correct? I
worked on a
project a couple of years ago which was in the midst of the
Maven [1]
to Maven 2 transition, and things got a little weird. I
recall having
to manually copy a lot of dependency files around to get
builds to
work.
