Thread: New installation

New installation

I finally got pebble to work on my server. The problem
ended up being
outside of pebble, not anything anyone else would need to
concern
themselves with.

Unfortunately I'm still having some problems with the
installation. I
have added a few dummy blog entries to see how pebble works
and then I
just navigate around the site doing things. Frequently the
home page
loads in such a way that it appears to have lost the .css
file. I
regularly get errors about the java script files not being
loaded. I'm
not sure if this is a pebble problem, or a problem with my
container.

If you are unsure what I'm talking about, please feel free
to take a look:

dolphin.com/pebble

Any hints as to what might be causing these problems would
be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello Kenneth, it appears you are running apache geronimo
and jetty as the servlet container on a Linux box according
to netcraft.com. dns shows kt.squeakydolphin.com is a CNAME
for squeakydolphin. Possibly there are some problems in the
relay between the web server and the container. In dns
CNAMES have never been a very good idea. If I use the IP:
209.40.199.65 (http://209.40.199.65/pebb
le I get the 404 Not Found message. An additional
caveat: if at all possible try to use a localhost for your
test development environment before pushing out to the
production. If there are holes in your setup the wack-jobs
out there in internet land can easily compromise your
machines and your data. There is really not much anyone can
do as an unsubscribed user. What poking around I was able to
do did not reveal any strange HTML/CSS problems. What is
more useful is the server.log/stdout.log (Tomcat/JBoss)
output or whatever Jetty uses for logging. With the logging
an attempt can be made to ga
in some insight into what Pebble is doing while it runs. In
this way the Pebble ML experts and gurus can better analyse
your situation. HTH, David.
