Hi,

On paper it is theoretically possible to install Perl on an
IBM System i
box (aka AS400) running i5/OS (aka OS400) using some AIX
shim. Apparently
it's also possible to connect to IBM's DB2 for i5/OS using
the DB2
driver for the DBI.

As I don't happen to have an IBM System i box to test any of
this on
does anyone know how easy this is to do? Apparently Zend
makes PHP
work on AS400 and that will be the solution a friend will
use unless
he can get a Perl based solution.

Has anyone any experience they wish to share...?

Thanks in advance.

Not of direct technical help, but at times like these, I
like to ask :
'What would Buffy Do?'.

Dunno if the stuff in here helps. Author might be able to
shed some light
though as you might guess from the class name he uses ODBC
rather than the
DB2 driver.

Thanks I'll forward to my colleague. I don't think he cares
what Buffy would
do...
