Thread: How Pazpar2 connect to web proxy server

How Pazpar2 connect to web proxy server
country flaguser name
Malaysia
2008-03-17 21:38:25
Hi,
I have just installed Pazpar2 recently but the thing is I
always get not
result return by using the provided test1 or jsdemo web
interface. From
the console, when I started up the Pazpar2, it always return
me the
message as below
10:28:53-18/03 pazpar2 [log] Pazpar2 1.0.5 started
10:28:53-18/03 pazpar2 [log] HTTP listener 9004
10:28:53-18/03 pazpar2 [log] HTTP backend localhost:80
10:28:53-18/03 pazpar2 [log] New database:
z3950.loc.gov:7090/voyager
10:28:53-18/03 pazpar2 [log] resolver start
10:28:59-18/03 pazpar2 [warn] Failed to resolve
z3950.loc.gov [Error 0]

Currenty, the client pc is using automatic proxy
configuration script to
connect to Internet instead of direct connection.
So may I know will it because Pazpar2 can't get through the
web proxy in
order to access to Internet?
If yes, may I know how to configure Pazpar2 to make use of
the automatic
proxy configuration script in order to enable the Pazpar2 to
resolve
Library of Congress z39.5 database?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
ChinCL

Not resolving. Can you resolve z3950.loc.gov on the command
line on your
OS ?

Hi Adam,
I can access z3950.loc.gov through the web browser with
Automatic proxy
configuration. Does that mean my OS can resolve
z3950.loc.gov? If not
could you please advise that what command that I can use for
testing?

Thanks in advance.

Can't tell without knowing what OS you are running.

Hi,
Sorry again, I think I get what you mean already.
I tried to use ping command and I got this message "ping: unknown host Z3950.loc.gov".
Does that mean Pazpar2 only can install to a PC, in which can access Internet directly instead of go through proxy?

Thanks in advanced.

It means that Pazpar2 doesn't have a magic ability to see
servers that
are otherwise unavailable to your system You need
to get your
systems people to fix things so that you can see
z3950.loc.gov before
you do anything else. Then use a simple Z39.50 client such
as
yaz-client to test your Z39.50 access to the server on that
machine.
_Then_ configure Pazpar2.

Good luck.
