Hi Tshimanga. I don't know if the GUI can be used without
syncing the repositories or not, but one idea is to just use
the command line instead of the GUI.
Try:
ppm help
in a cmd window to see how it works.

Subject: Can I open the PPM4 GUI without synchronizing the
repositories?
Hi All,
I'm using a lot Active State Perl on Windows boxes. I'm
actually using AS Perl 5.8.8 build 819, which comes with
PPM4 that uses a GUI.
The problem is that every time you open PPM it will
synchronize the repositories and that really take while
before it completes.
Is there a way to temporarily stop the synchronization, but
still be able to add modules?
>From the command lines, it will even synchronize for
every command you launch!
Thanks for reading, ... and answering,
