Hi Fellow Techs,

Every now and then I get the question concerning dissatisfaction with
our current Pharmacy Technician national organizations. For the
American Association of Pharmacy Technicians or AAPT, the concern is
mainly of inactivity in the advocation of our profession. For the
National Pharmacy Technician Association or NPTA, the concern or
complaint is simply why this organization is even considered an
organization, as all decisions are made by the whim of one individual and appears only to make money off of Pharmacy Technicians in grossing over one million dollars each year by pretending to be something it is not.

So the question becomes more highlighted in the respect is there a
need for a different national organization? One that will be a true
advocate of our profession and one that will not prioritize its need
to make money over actually doing something of value?

With the multitude of national organizations for Pharmacist's, I
believe that there is indeed room for another national organization
for Pharmacy Technicians. But in saying this I am thinking of one
that is NON PROFIT and its main purpose is to help the individual
Pharmacy Technician in need. Again...not one that will just take your
money in the name of being a national organization.

So in saying this I will think of how this can be implemented.
Unfortunately it will take money and it will take individuals who
actually care about our profession. It also will be an organization
that will be for its members and about its members. I will even give
it a name: The Association FOR Pharmacy Technicians or AFPT.

What do you think? I am not talking about reinventing the wheel in
creating an organization that has its hands tied or one that keeps
coming up with ways to make money off of those they pretend to serve.
I am thinking or dreaming about a genuine national organization for
Pharmacy Technicians that not only talk the talk...but also walk the
walk in helping our vocation become a true profession.
