Hi there. I hope someone can help me with this dilemna. Last year i
became severely ill and was on medical leave from my job. I had worked at this Independent Pharmacy for 8 consecutive years, and it was a family owned business. My boss was also the owner of the small company, and his daughter, was the *manager*.
My medical condition extended longer than i imagined and i kept my boss up to date on my health status. Eventually, he sent me a letter to my home, stating that he had to replace me because i was a key employee in his small pharmacy and he needed someone there that knew what they were doing ~ blah blah blah.
Well, after all was said and done, i still had not received my State
License back from him. I tried to reach him by phone but he was on
vacation. I sent him a letter asking him to please return it to me,
since i will be needing it when i am ready to seek out employment again. About two weeks later, i received a note from him in the mail, stating he did not have it.
Now, it is my understanding that our license has to be accounted for ~
it can not be shredded, tossed out by the prior employer, or destroyed
in any way of that nature. The license must either be returned to the
individual or to the State Board of Pharmacy. Can i file a complaint against him for not returning MY legal document? The State Board of Pharmacy does not re-issue duplicate licenses to people. And i DO NOT have it, nor was it returned. Please let me know what action i should take, if any. Much appreciated.

--Wow.......I don't have an answer for you. I am sure somebody
should. I would think you can file a complaint about them. At the
place I work, they have copies of my certification, etc. I have the
originals in a safe place. I hope you can get this resolved. Keep us
posted.- In PharmacyTechnician%40yahoogroups.com">PharmacyTechnician yahoogroups.com, "*Handful*"

Hi Everyone!
I still lurk a lot, but I'll try to jump in sometimes.
Yikes! Did you call your state board of pharmacy?
I live in Oregon. Where I work, we must display
our 'original' license on the wall.
Our state board of pharmacy will issue certified copies
of our original license,
because some people work in more than one pharmacy.
We are also responsible for removing them, 'ourselves',
when we no longer work there.
So, I don't know what's up with your old boss.
I would file a complaint...Something is amiss.
Every September though, we need to renew our license.
We answer some questions, send them 1 hour of Law CE
and $35 and they send us a brand-new one,
stating that it is good for one year.
If we don't have our renewal paperwork postmarked
by August 31st, there is a $20 late fee,
plus we can't work in the pharmacy until we receive it.
Now that everyone has to be nationally certified
by the next renewal of 2008,
most of my co-workers are freaking out...
Because if they don't pass,
they can't work in a pharmacy anywhere in Oregon.
They are all studying like crazy...They'll pass!
I'm sure glad that I took the test way back in 2000.
I hope everything works out for you.
Yes, please keep us posted.
