Hi, All!

I just wish that FlavoRx came in cat-friendly flavors. I am really unhappy when I have to give my cat some kind of bubble-gum flavored antibiotic. In my experience, cats really dispise bubble-gum flavor. How about a nice tuna flavor?

Thank you for letting me rant.

Hi Kaybee,

I have always questioned the rational for the flavoring of
medications, especially for children who are prone to find that
something that tastes so yummy and drink the whole bottle. Wonder how
many new cases of drug overdose has occurred in the emergency room
that would not of occurred if that medication did not taste so darn good?

Of course there are exceptions in the case of children with chronic
conditions and in need of medication all the time. But for those who
have an acute condition, why make it so good tasting?

Of course the answer is simple, for income purposes. Only $2.99 and
we will flavor that medication. Next thing, pharmacies will be offering small toys and gift wrapping medications for a small fee.

My two pet peeves are drive-thru pharmacies and the flavoring of kid's
medications. Seems like we are accommodating customer needs without
looking at ensuring patient safety...which should be our main focus.

Hello Joe and Everyone,

Can anyone tell me how flovoRx work and how to mix it just in case the
pharmacist asks? Is there an instruction to mix flavoRx? These
questions are for those who had plenty of experience in retail
pharamcy setting.

Thank you all,

Kaybee, CPhT.

Hello. I am a CPhT and work in a chain pharmacy. Our pharmacy has flavoring for children/adults, but not animals. I know what you mean about your kitty. I know it can be done for animals though. We have a pharmacy here that flavors for animals. I had a kitty that was in kidney failure and one of several of her meds. that were liquid was yuk...anyhow for adults. It was a people over the counter hard to find antacid, that I got my pharmacy to order and the other pharmacy to flavor tuna. Boy, did that stink to high heaven.....lol. Esp. when she didn't like it anyhow and when it came med. time. I wore it, she wore it the wall wore it....lol. We all smelled like tuna. Gayle
