Hi Andrew,
Business is business. Realize that money is still being made in other
areas of the pharmacy. If times were tough, maybe we could consider
paying our Pharmacists less as 100,000 dollars per year seem a bit
much for what they do...especially in the retail setting.
I am surprised that this topic turned from the potential consequences
of children taking too much flavored medication, because it tastes so
good and ending up in the emergency room....to simply whether money is
being made or not?
Maybe I am outdated in my thinking of patient care and safety. Maybe
this is a GOOD thing, I guess I need to realize that times have
changed and that should any child overdose and possibly die on a
medication because it tastes so good is irrelevant in our day and age
as there are so many adults who appreciate not having to have a
difficult time in giving medication to their children.
Now about those drive thru-pharmacies...

My pharmacy has started offering FlavoRx for free. Does it matter that
we lose 42 cents on every Amox 400/5 we do now anyway (thanks to our
matching the $4 list), now we lose the $2.99 for flavoring? I actually
calculated it once, but that $2.99 just barely covers the cost of the
flavor drops, not to mention the cost of the time to flavor it.
