Nikon D50...Discontinued?

I've been looking at buying an entry level DSLR, and I have
pretty much
made up my mind on the D50. I've been shopping around for
the best
price, and last night was told by two different Nikon camera
shops that
is has been discontinued. When I asked what was going to
replace it I
was told the D80. (which I thought was replacing the D70).
Anyone have
any info?

D50s still available in Canada in sufficient quantities,
maybe just
because market here is smaller than in States. There are
rumors about
replacement but nothing more than rumors

There are rumours about its replacement coming up but it
makes sense
that Nikon would do so in the next couple of months. It's up
to you
whether you want to make the leap or wait and see what
happens.
