Django templates in Venus

Hello everyone,

I just wrote a tiny piece of code that hooks Venus with the
Django
template system. I also wrote a new theme that shows how to
use it:
it should be very easy to use as the code that creates the
Django
template context (the variables in the actual template
files) is the
same as the one from htmltmpl.

I published my bzr branch over here for review:

m/2007/02/venus/

I hope someone might find this useful!

Cheers.

I've pulled this, but a bit of documentation (see
docs/templates.html)
and tests would be nice.

You're right, I'll write up a minimal guide to Django
templates usage.
As for testing, I'll have a look into how htmltmpl is
currently being
tested by Venus.

Cheers!

I updated tha branch so it's pullable if deemed good
enough.

Cheers.

I just added a couple of unit test to the Django hooks for
Venus and
somewhat clarified the documentation on my own branch. To be
honest
I’m not very not very clear on why the various templating
engines are
tested with files called test_filter_*.py, but I just tried
to follow
the xslt and tmpl examples for now (are filters
templates?).

I hope this is not the usual case of RTFM: I tried looking
but I’m
still not quite grasping the difference between the two.

Cheers.

They probably all should be renamed test_shell_*. But, yes,
internally
there really is no difference between a filter and a
template.

Thanks for the fixes. I've pulled them into my copy.
