Greetings all,

Here’;s the situation:

I have a fedora core5 machine with minimum software.  I downloaded the most current UnifiedInstaller from the plone.org site. ; I ran it without problems. Everything compiled, built & installed just fine.

I ran startcluster.sh and fired up firefox.  I went to http://localhost:8080/ and there was Zope.

I added a PLONE site, rebooted (just to be sure) , reran the startcluster.sh went back to http://localhost:8080/ and there was Zope with the Plone site. ; When I try to connect to http://localhost:80/ firefox said “unable to connect230;”.

So, what did I not do?

Where is the PLONE site if not at port 80?

HELP!!!!

Thanks,

Pete

As you noted above, it's on port 8080. If you want to see
your site on
port 80, you need to use a ProxyPass/ReverseProxyPass
directive pair -
look at the docs on plone.org, and also look at the VHM
(Virtual Host
Monster) in the root of your ZMI.

Any reason why you are not using the packages in Extras?
'yum install plone'

Also,

might help you understand more what needs to be done.

Cheers!

Greetings all,

To begin with; MANY thanks for all the help.

I don't think I explained what I'm after very well so let me
take another shot
at it:

On my Fedora Core5 machine, I have been able to run the
Unified Installer, built
compiled and installed everything just fine.

When I go to (from the Plone server of course)

http://localhost:8080/

I get the Zope management Interface. I created a Plone Site
(named "Plone
Site"-Boring) and I can access the site via the ZMI.

I can also get to the Plone site via http://localhost:8080/Plo
ne Site

I next installed the newest Windows version which included
an application called
Plone. This utility allowed me to set the Plone http site
to 88 so I could
access that site on the windows machine via http://localhost:88/

What I am trying to do is get the fedora core5 install to
respond the same way;
that is, access the Plone Site with http://localhost:88/

This lets all my users access the "sites" in the
same manner.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks,

Pete
