ExternalEditor, Emacs, and Linux

I'm trying to set up my Plone 2.5.2 to work with External
Editor 0.93 on a 
Linux machine. It seems to work, except one thing: When I
view pages in 
Emacs it's in "Windows format" (or DOS format,
with ^M at the end of 
all lines). Is there a way to get rid of this?
