Zope using 99% processor

Many possible reasons.

Do a unix-command top 

Look ind your Z2.log for possible explanations for the
period before your zope
got spinning.

For our self we had a spinning htmldoc problem in a
zope2.7.5 installation on
freebsd. 
Top was our friend.
