Zope IS installed as a service and starts automatically when
you start
Windows. It is good to check this is so by going to Control
Panel>Admin
Tools>Services and scrolling to the bottom of the
alphabetical list to see
if Zope is running.
When I have experienced this problem with Win X64 (which is
very similar to
Vista) the Zope Services status is not shown in the Service
list. Look at
the properties and it will say it is running. It is my hunch
that there is
some erroneous conflict with the use of port 80 and/or 21
set for
PLONE_WEBSERVER_PORT and PLONE_FTPSERVER_PORT respectively.
These are
defined in ...Plone 3Dataetcplone.conf. I have edited
these to 1028 and
1029. This now means you need to look for Plone in your
browser at
http://localhost:1028/
and all works fine .
I have found Plone Controller doesn't work all the time
either so I use a
command window and navigate to ...Plone 3Databin and
execute runzope.bat.
To stop it use the Maintenance section of sitesetup through
Plone UI or
ctl-Break in the cmd window and then y option to halt Zope.
This is if the Vista problem you have is the same as the
Winx64 one I
have...
