LDAP Logon process

I install plone 2.5.3 and installed LDAP on a plone site. 
LDAP is setup and
I can manage AD users through ZMI.  However I cannot logon
through Plone
CMS.  Do I have to install a different logon utility or
maybe add attributes
somewhere?

What you're looking for is PloneLDAP: http://plone.org/
products/ploneldap  
— and if you're just installing Plone, I recommend going
with the recently  
released Plone 3.0 instead, it has improvements to the
member handling  
code that is not in 2.5.x.
