Hello,
I need help. Another network
andministrator and I are trying to install plone on our servers to run with IIS.
We have read all the doucmentation we could find and still no luck. We really
would like to get this running as soon as possible for we are a multi-million
dollar corporation and administartion is pushing to get this done. Here is what
the other Network Admin left this message for me this morning. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Larry, Just ask for some help on setting plone
up and using iis as a proxy. Tell them that we are using iis for a local
intranet and we need it to run for our security on the server. Some questions
that I have are do we need to set plone up as a separate website in iis? if not
how do we set up the identities for plone in the existiong website? If it is a
new website how do we set up the identities. How do we set up the default.asp
config page? Should we install plone on a different server than iis or is it ok
on thie same server. do we need to have plone running and on the same port as
the intranet webpage?
Thanks in advance guys.
Thank you,
Lawrence Foster

You can take a look at this doc: http://plone.org/documentation/tutorial/plone-proxy-iis-windows/tutorial-all-pages
You may want to consider finding an old PC, and either install Linux, or Windows as your base line, then install Plone to learn the in's and outs on how it works. Or - you could even set up an account at an hosting company like
WebFactions: http://www.webfaction.com/shared_hosting They had me set up within a couple of hours. I currently use a hosted site there to test out add-on plone products.
They have very good tutorials (video based) to get you going down the right path. http://blog.webfaction.com/zope-and-plone-screencast
Their support is very good as well.
