    Hi,

I am asking you some advice on the suitable way to create .pot and po files.

Note : we are using 
              Filesystem Directory View so our templates and our script are on the server file system

1) Is it better to create utf-8 .pot and po files ?

Our files use ISO-8859 encoding for the moment (I think we will have to convert them)


2) Our default language is french and .pot file will contain french text. Is this correct or should the .pot file be in english ?

3) Can we create the .pot and .po files manually (for the moment i18nextract and i18ndude stop parsing our files, signalling errors) ? But I suspect that if i18nextract fails, PlacelessTranslationService will fail too
