don't get add content tab with new role

Hi

I've created a new role which should have the ability to just create and edit portal content. I'm able to assign this to a user but when the user logs in they don't get the add content drop down tab just three green contents, view and sharing tabs.

I've got 'add portal content9; checked in the ZMI and I have also updated the default Plone Workflow.

Thanks

Ok, thanks guys. Larry in the plone or folder workflow there are only four permissions you can alter etc and add portal content doesn't appear there. Seems strange that 'modify content9; can be changed there but not 'add content9; or 'add ATDocument etc'

Anyway I took John's advice and tried adding specific content types instead of just 'add portal content9; and this works. So it is a case of modifying the Plone workflows and going to the root of the Plone site and updating the security settings so that different content types are available to add for the role. Be good if it was all in one place.

Have you given the role permissions to add the specific content types
that you want them to be able to add? For example if you want "Page"
to be available in the "add item" dropdown then you will need the
"ATContentTypes: Add Document" permission ticked.

I guess if you see it as part of the cost of having such
fine grained
control over security settings in plone. In the security tab
you set
the specific permissions that a role has and then portal
workflow lets
you then chose which of those permissions you want to change
depending
on what state the object is at the time. For example letting
a role
add items to a folder it is in public draft state and not in
published
state.
