userid with space

Hello,

I apologize for writing about the same topic once again.
Basically I 
need very simple answer from plone developers.

Is it supported in Plone to have userid with space (eg.
common name from 
ldap)?

There was an issue with it in Plone 2.5.2 and it seems worse
in Plone 
3.0. I need to know whether to report it in issue tracker.

Historically we have been using common names from ldap as
our plone
userid and ldap uid as our login name. The problem is that
ldap common
name usually contains a space, eg "John Smith".

We have a problem with undo which is not working for us also
in Plone
2.5.2. It was reported in issue #5861, but it still does not
work. It
seems to be even more troublesome in Plone 3. I actually did
not try
ldap there, I just tried to replicate what was described in
the issue #5861.

Is it kind of official that Plone does not support userids
(not to
confuse with login name) with spaces? Plone adduser form
always creates
a user with the same userid and login name (no spaces
allowed), but it
is possible to create a user with different userid and login
name
through zmi in acl_users/source_users.

What would be necessary if we decide to change our userids
into ldap
uids from common names. I guess:

1. migrate groups membership (we have groups in zope, not
ldap)
2. migrate object ownerships
3. migrate local roles
4. migrate Creators field
5. migrate home folders
