Hi,

I'm learning plone by reading The Definitive Guide to
Plone. To support
muliple languages, it seems that the page authors have to
edit .po files
on the server. As they are probably end users, it's very
difficult for
them to do that (they probably shouldn't have a shell
account on the
server). Is there a better way?

Thanks!

Hi,

If you want to translate the interface, you have to edit .po files
on the server.

But I think, what you really want is to install a product like
LinguaPlone. This product allow you to manage and maintain
multilingual content.

To understand this concept see the LinguaPlone page:

If someone doesn't have shell access, they probably
shouldn't be writing
page templates. The .po files are only for translation of UI
components.
If you want to translate content, that's an entirely
different domain
and you should look at LinguaPlone.
