I've been trying to use Plucker Desktop on OS X (Tiger) to
get Web
content into my Treo. I have had no problem with setting up
the
channels in the Plucker Desktop UI. I kick off the update
and I see
the app retrieve and process the page(s), follow all
appropriate
links, etc -- everything works fine UP UNTIL it tries to
save the
data out to the relevant Palm install directory for the
first
channel. The "Channel Update Progress" window
stops at the
"Conversion complete. Writing output file..."
step; the list of
"Channels updated" never budges past 0, and I have
to hit the Stop
button. When I do hit Stop, the new data has not been
placed in the
Palm install directory. And since it doesn't finish the
first
channel, it doesn't move on to any of the other channels.

I've looked through the log and found that Plucker Desktop
is writing
to Library/Plucker/channels/[channel name]. (In the log,
this is
after "Writing out collected data" and before a
bunch of lines
beginning with "Converting ...".) If I go and
find the new pdb file
there and copy it to the install directory myself, it looks
fine
(although graphics don't seem to be present). So it doesn't
look
like there's anything wrong with the distiller.

What I'd like to do is either a) get the Plucker Desktop
issue
resolved so that I can easily update all my channels at once
and have
the files go into the install directory without any manual

intervention, or b) learn how to kick off the update process
via a
cron job so I can write a script that automates the update
process.
(Ideally I'd like to keep using the UI to define
subscriptions.)

Any thoughts? Anything I should look for in the ini file?

Thanks,
Mark
