I thought I would send an update to this list on the status
of the
ISM-Community.
We are publishing daily updates

There are several very interesting project ideas being
thrown around (see
below)!
General
The portal went live yesterday. There is still a lot of work
to do and we
are looking for a volunteer with good writing skills to help
create standard
templates for chapter meetings pages and so on.
Chapters
New chapters are forming in San Diego, Cincinnati,
Philadelphia, Washington
DC, New York, Chicago, Bay Area, Austin, bond (UK) and
Minneapolis. We
expect to have meeting venues and dates on the local pages
before next week.
If you want to start a chapter in your local city please
mail me.
Projects
The Risk Assessment project will have a new draft soon.
Despite several
comments it is NOT reinventing the wheel.
We plan to build several information driven projects where
the community can
manage the information. The first is a Threats and
Countermeasures database
that will start development next week. A Regulations and
Controls tracking
web application will be built by Savid Technologies (first
sponsor). No
dates yet plus requirements are being drawn up on the forums
so if you have
ideas then please share them.

We are always looking for people to start new projects.
Ideas can be as
simple as a template for evaluating IT services to as
complicated as an
online application to help solve a practical problem.
Forums
The forums are up. If you would like a new forum created you
can just ask.
I will pull together a project roadmap in PowerPoint and
publish this
weekend.
