PLUG Advanced Topics Meeting
April 16th 2007 at 7pm
Location:
Jax Bar and Grill
826 SW 2nd Avenue
Portland, Oregon
Speaker: Josh Triplett <josh freedesktop.org>
At the April 16th Advanced Topics meeting, Josh will discuss
Sparse,
static analysis, and its application to synchronization
techniques, with
an emphasis on Read-Copy Update (RCU). I will also give a
brief history
of how I ended up maintaining Sparse.
About Josh Triplett:
I study at Portland State University, in the second year of
the CS PhD
program. My research relates to advanced synchronization
techniques
based on "relativistic programming", which avoids
the expensive illusion
of an absolute view of memory across multiple processors. I
hack on
various Free and Open Source projects for fun, study, and
profit. I
participate in the Debian project, in freedesktop.org, in
the Linux
kernel community, and in the Portland State Aerospace
Society. As of
2006, I maintain the Sparse static analysis tool for C,
originally
written by Linus Torvalds.
Usual meeting rules apply. Happy Hour menu for the first
hour for food.
