Hello,

I'm going to extend psi with the Off-the-Record Messaging
(OTR) protocol. I know
that not everybody wants to have OTR in Psi, because it's
not a xmpp extension
and so on.
However, i think it's important to have OTR and many people
would use it.

Perhaps someone can give me a few references, how to do it
the best way.
I saw that the version in the SVN has a plugin interface.
However, I was not
able to get one of the plugins running. What is the current
state of the plugin
interface? Or is it a better idea to built OTR directly into
psi, like it is
done with GPG?

Thanks in advance.
regards

timo engel

1. Excellent, we need OTR IMHO.
2. Plugins aren't ready yet.
3. I think (but don't pay take my word for it, I'm not a
dev) that OTR
would best be implemented as a plugin.
4. I think GPG is going to be moved off into a plugin,
someone correct
me if I'm wrong on that.

Perhaps you just need to make *this* version work as an XMPP
extension.

If it became popular enough, the transports could always
translate back to the
inline text version for legacy protocols. And there's no
particularly good
excuse to implement a text-level protocol on top of XMPP.
