Thanks for the AJAX tutorial, Nicholas! I guess I'll try it
this
weekend, if I have the time...it looks really good!

Concerning the prototype/pylons question... I am not really
into AJAX
yet, but I have read that the MochiKit-crew is in the
process of
porting the scriptaculous-library to Mochikit, and it seems
they have
already come a good way and are close to a release including
scriptaculous (but don't quote me on this; I don't
remember where I
have read it). So, if we get the fancy graphical stuff from
Scriptaculous in Mochikit (drag&drop,...), do we really
need prototype
then?

But I don't have any experience with these libraries, so my
comment
might not be that relevant. Newbie-question: Is
prototype/scriptaculous
better than MochiKit?

While i've heard that Mochikit might be more Pythonic than
Prototype
but i personally don't really care (yet) as i don't plan
to get my
hands dirty on javascript anyway. The cool thing about
Prototype is
not really the library itself but the RailsHelpers package
that comes
with Pylons.

This way you don't need to write any javascript at all.
Just look at
a nice (python) function in the RailsHelpers package you
want to use.
Put it in your template. And your done! All javascript gets
generated
for you. You really don't need to know anything about
asynchronisity,
javascript or xml and still be able to impress your friends
by saying
that you use AJAX.

Nicholas
