We are excited to announce that Qt 4.2 is now available.
This release is our most significant since the launch of Qt
4.0, and incorporates a range of new features that
significantly expand the scope of the Qt framework. Major
new features revealed in Qt 4.2 include:
ON THE DESKTOP
--------------
- Graphics View: Graphics View is an enhanced replacement
for the Qt 3 QCanvas, and provides a powerful 2D graphics
canvas that can responsively handle up to millions of
graphics objects. Support is included for collision
detection, optimized level-of-detail rendering, affine item
transformations, animations and enhanced drag-and-drop

- Qt Style Sheets: A powerful mechanism that enables quick
and easy customization of widget style. Inspired by HTML
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), custom styles can be defined
using Qt Style Sheets with a fraction of time and lines of
code needed for traditional UI styling.
- Desktop Integration: A set of features designed to ease
the writing of desktop-integrated applications. Added
features include cross-platform support for opening and
launching URLs and system tray support on all desktop
platforms.
- New Widgets and GUI Features; including more
user-responsive main window classes, improved support for
native message boxes and improved combobox and calendar
widgets.
BEHIND THE SCENES
-----------------
- Undo Framework now available, allowing developers to
provide undo/redo features in applications
- Support for Inter-Process Communication (IPC) using the
D-BUS message bus.
Qtopia CORE
-----------
Also released is Qtopia Core 4.2, which includes a number of
improvements in the areas of graphics support and rendering
performance. Specific improvements include direct painting
to the screen, as well as support for 18 and 24
bits-per-pixel colour depths.

MAC OS X 10.2 SUPPORT
---------------------
Because of the use of newer Macintosh APIs, we are
regrettably not able to support Mac OS X version 10.2 in Qt
4.2.

Evaluation versions of Qt 4.2, as well as Qt Open Source
Editions for all platforms are now available for download
