Note: This would normally be a feature, but due to the
damage caused by not
having this functionality, I feel it qualifies as a defect.
Especially when
considering that RapidSVN is generally used by more svn
novices (at least in our
organization) than experienced users (who tend to prefer the
svn cli).

RapidSVN must show previews of changes that are about to be
effected before
performing those changes. Some examples:

1. Committing files.
RapidSVN doesn't actually tell you what it is going to
commit in the commit
dialog or at anytime before the actual commit. I don't
remember the steps to
reproduce this, but I've had several files highlighted,
clicked commit on the
toolbar, and watched as rapid committed the entire directory
tree. With a
confirmation dialog or simply making the list of files to be
committed available
from the commit dialog, I could've avoided this behavior.

2. Creating branches
The online help tells a user how to create a branch
(well, not really).
During the first 6 attempts to try and create a branch using
the instructions I
ended up with directories and files all over the place that
I had to clean up
from the command line. If RapidSVN had merely shown me a
confirmation dialog
before each change telling me what it intended to do, I
could've canceled the
actions.

In summary, I have no problems with RapidSVN having bugs,
idiosyncrasies, and
growing pains, but users should not suffer for it. The
frustrations felt from
the above examples were not because RapidSVN did those
things, but because of a
lack of transparency about what it was going to do in the
first place. Using
RapidSVN sometimes feels like gambling. Added previews of
actions allow users to
catch unwanted changes before they happen.
